The holiday season is fast approaching! This also means the biggest holiday shopping season is upon us. In fact, some of us have been waiting all year for it. We know that there is no better time to get a great deal than during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
We’ve all heard, if not, participated in those long lines and 2am starts just to make sure we got our hands on the best deals first! Whilst there will still be great in-store deals, online stores will be also be offering equally amazing deals. It’s no wonder since more and more people are doing the bulk of their shopping online.
Kids clothes, kids toys and accessories are amongst the most sought after deals during Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. So as moms, we have to be savvy because competition will be as stiff as ever. With so many limited one-time offers it can be easily overwhelming but with the right strategy, you can walk away finding the best deals in a breeze. So the question is how exactly do you do that? Well, we’ve broken down 4 things you should do to get the most out of the biggest shopping season of the year.
1. Be Smart and shop deals early.
Gone are the days when Black Friday and Cyber Monday were just one-day events. They have now morphed into week-long sales and savings events. You will find this ‘early deals’ trend running through both online and brick and mortar stores. Don’t be fooled though, the fact that these deals start early means there's a higher chance of the store selling out of the items you want so don’t wait until the last minute to start browsing.
To really grasp how good the deals are you will have to start the hunt early. Don’t wait specifically for Black Friday and Cyber Monday before taking action. Now, I know what you’re thinking, I’m a busy mom, is it really worth my time to start early? The short answer is – yes, it absolutely is. Most stores that start deals early tend to have limited stock so there is a good chance that what you want may sell out early. It is a good idea to start browsing your favorite brands and stores as early as two weeks ahead of time. So, go ahead and start browsing today.
2. Make a list, check it twice.
This is the busiest shopping season of the year so its easy to get overwhelmed by all the deals flying around. This can also increase the likelihood of you making purchases on impulse, buying things you don’t really want or even paying more for items. The best way to avoid this is to make a list and check it twice.
The first thing you want to do is decide on are the kid's boutiques, brands and shops you really want to shop with. Write them down. Then write down all the things that you want to buy. A great way to do this is to break it down into categories; so for example, for him, the kids, household goods, yourself. Then just break it down from there into what you want to get for each of these. This will reduce the risk of you buying stuff you will regret later.
3. Sign up to your favorite shop's mailing list.
Some shops will be offering special deals only for their email subscribers. Some shops will be offering special discounts to their email subscribers exclusively. So in an effort not to miss out, it’s a good idea to sign up to their mailing list early. If you are already subscribed make sure you double-check that none of their emails are landing in your spam/junk folder. This will be a really good way to guarantee you get access to the best deals and what you want before it sells out.
Another way to keep up-to-date with your favorite shops and brands is by making sure you follow them on social media and have your notifications turned on so you’re in the know as soon as they make an announcement.
4. Buy More to save more.
I dare you to name a better bargain hunter than a mom? I’ll wait! Moms are the ultimate bargain hunting machines- we just know a good deal! Of course, the object of the game is to save as much as possible but in some instances, this means buying more. Depending on the store and what their discounts are sometimes buying in bulk can save you more than buying just one. So, for example, deals like buy two and get one free or buy one and get one free can work out cheaper. So buying one product might save you a percentage but buying two or three products may get you extras for free. Be on the lookout for these types of savings. This is where good planning and preparation come in.
So remember to have fun but keep in mind that time is of the essence. Start browsing and making your list early because things are guaranteed to sell out quickly. Thankfully, after taking these 4 things into consideration you will be best equipped to make the most of it and come out on the other end with no regrets.
